Committees in Institutes, Seminars and Clinics

Institutes, seminars and clinics are managed by various committees to which members of the UZH Estates are delegated. The number of delegates in a committee is specified in the respective institute regulations.

Elections in institutes, seminars and clinics are held in election meetings. The election regulation also provides for the possibility of a written election.


By-election from April 4 to June 6, 2023

Lists of institute members can be ordered from VAUZ.

Until the next by-election, persons may be delegated ad interim by the VAUZ Board at any time.

Election in Institutes, Clinics, Seminars

From 19.09.2023 to 14.11.2023 you have time for the election.
You can vote on any chosen date within this period.
14.11.2023 is the last possible election day!
Please mind the deadlines for announcing the election, submit candidatures, announcing candidiatures, see procedure below, according to the UZH election regulation.
If the date of the election is postponed, the below mentioned dates will be postponed accordingly.

Election in an election meeting
The election regulation (German) specifies all dates for the election in the institute, clinic, seminar exactly, from p. 5.

  1. Announcement of the election 4 weeks before the election date > if you chose to vote on 14.11. then announce the seats at the latest on 17.10.
  2. Submit candidatures until 31.10. (2 weeks before election date on 14.11.)
  3. Have candidacies checked for eligibility by vauz@vauz.uzh.ch
  4. Announcement of candidatures until 07.11. (1 week before election date on 14.11.)
  5. The election will be open, unless a quarter of the participants request a secret ballot.
  6. Send in election protocol to vauz@vauz.uzh.ch
  7. Institutes, clinics and seminars can also vote in writing / electronically
    In this case, the election should be announced 8 weeks before the election date: 19.09.2023.
    The exact procedure for the written election is defined in the election regulation (German).

Quickguide for elections at your institute, department or clinic

1. determine one or more responsible persons from the Junior Researchers at your institute to organize and conduct the election.

2. determine who is allowed to vote; either via internal address lists or by ordering the addresses from  VAUZ.

3. determine the date for the election meeting; the last possible date is always the last day of the election period.

4. at the latest, 4 weeks before the election date, officially announce the elections.

5. check the candidatures. These must each be supported by at least two eligible voters. The candidatures must also be submitted to the VAUZ for review.

6. no later than 2 weeks before the election date: announce the candidates.

7. if there are as many applications as seats, there will be a "tacit election". Fill in the election protocol (see template).

8. if there are more applications than seats, the election is held and you fill out the election protocol (see template)

9. send the election protocol to VAUZ for safekeeping.

10. Inform your Junior Researchers and the Head of Department on the result of the election.

Note: Make sure it is clear who runs to be delegate and who wants to be deputy delegate.
